These 4 are no stranger to the camera and everytime I photograph them they just get better and better! We piled onto my quad/wagon (which the kids loved) and off we went, this time we ventured around my yard and then into the bush…It was high energy and lots of fun. I lost Casen for the majority of the session in the bush as I couldn’t get him off the fallen trees. Mikayla was not a fan of the thistle, and Trenton was continuously scouting out the next perfect location for me. Thanks again Shayla for asking me to photograph you and your adorable kids its always a pleasure.
ps. This past year Shayla shaved her head for a wonderful cause. She is now rocking a pretty adorable do but from time to time she tosses on a wig (as seen in the last few photos…that are pretty hilarious!) ENJOY!
When Gloria asked me to photograph her and her man Jeff I was totally honored. Tossed between locations we ended up at Jeff’s parents beautiful place! These two highschool sweethearts have been together for 7 years and their love for eachother is undeniable!
Thanks again for the amazing evening right down to me losing my car keys!
Growing up my childhood home was and still remains under construction. Flipping through family pictures and watching projects go through many transformations is one of my favorite things. So when Brett contacted me a couple months back asking if I recommended a newborn photographer…of course I name dropped myself…again.lol. He also asked if we could do the photos at my house because their place was still in the works of being renovated. I pondered awhile and thought…I don’t care what your house looks like this is your life story. A few unfinished projects in a family photo makes for every photo from here on out another page in your book.
Brett & Felicia have been friends of ours for over a decade! Time does get in the way of our busy lives but every time we do get together we start back right where we left off. When I first sat down with them on the couch it felt like Asher had been here for months (9 to be exact…lol). We shared our life stories, we laughed, and we shared each others greatest accomplishments. Your greatest accomplishment is the sweet bundle you hold in your arms today. Asher landed a pretty rad set of parents and he has a lot to learn from you two! He also doesn’t know it yet but his furry friend cooper is pretty smitten over him.
Thanks you two for the lovely visit and for having me document your new beginning.
Three months ago I mentioned to my husband that we should host a 59/60th birthday party for his parents. He agreed so off I went on my journey making this my fifth planned surprise party. We have never hosted a party here on our acreage and in order for this party to take place we had a lot of work to get done! From building a playground, weeding gardens, building gardens, trimming trees, planting flowers, building a deck, mowing, and so much more …I knew we had a lot of work ahead of us. So off Adam and I went making our yard wedding ready for a birthday party lol. Call me crazy … and maybe I am … just a little!
Earlier that week I asked Christine if they were available to come for a steak supper to repay her for watching our girls. I also added don’t come before 4 as I have my youngest daughters one year check up at 3:30 that day. So a steak supper and a relaxing afternoon is what they had in mind.
We all lined up on the driveway and Adam tracked their whereabouts … As soon as they turned into our driveway the truck came to a sudden stop! we all screamed happy birthday and greeted them as they stepped out of the truck. Lots of tears were shed! I knew then that we got them good… they had NO IDEA!
No steak was had that night instead I made the party a Taco & Love theme with Mexican Attire. Mexico has been Terry & Christines most visited place so I thought we would not only suprise them but also take them on a trip to mexico with their favorite people. The rain finally let up that day making a perfect evening to celebrate two pretty awesome people!
Happy birthday you two! We love you!
MY HUSBAND – for his hard work! Alone we can do so little …together we can do so much!
My sister inlaw Paige(paigemaydesigns) – The cake topper, taco bout 60 sign, her hard work and making the cake and cupcakes with her talented sister Brittney (B_and_B Estates).
My Brother inlaw Sean – FOR ALL THE HELP this past week! Thanks so much!
Auntie Carmen & Uncle Ron – For your huge hearts, your helping hands, and your energy…we love you!
Their neighbors Trish and Richard- for booking Terry & Christines motor home so that they (Terry & Christine) had a place to sleep!
ALL OF YOU – For coming and not slipping up on the surprise! The day was perfect! Thank YOU!
When Felicia showed up to our place with a large water bottle in hand it didn’t seem appropriate for a game night. My reaction was …ABOUT TIME! For some couples life is to crazy to involve kids or its not the right time…And speaking from experience and a procrastinator that I am it took me years into our marriage to even think about having kids. There is never a right time! I have known Brett & Felicia for what feels like forever…since our husbands worked together over 10 years ago, became neighbors in the same town, enjoyed our weekly wing nights and bowling, to moving north and now living an hour from one another! To see these two taking the jump into parenthood makes me pretty darn happy. When Felicia asked me to do their maternity photos I was so excited to not only hang out with them, but to take them on a fun journey. I feel like we did just that! They moved to lake wabamun this past year and to do pictures of where they are beginning their family couldn’t be more perfect! Till the last minutes of the sun setting we used every bit of light we had. Visits never seem long enough and time always seems to fly by. Thank you for allowing me to document the beginning of your life entering parenthood. I can not wait for Asher to join your life!
Come May this family will be holding on to a new little addition! I met Deanna 7 months ago at our daughters dance studio…in this time we have covered many topics of life. When Deanna asked me to do family pictues for her I was completely honored. Thanks for having me document a huge beginning in your lives!
The second sparky stepped out of the van we all fell in love(because who doesn’t love an adorable puppy?!) That love has grown and has been questioned from time to time… but we have overcome a lot in the last two years! For all the times he has brought me great anger he has also brought me great pride, joy, and…grey hair!
I would wake at 4 am, 8 months pregnant to my flower bed dug up…you could only imagine what I was saying as I was filling the hole back up. He dug up every flower bed/mole hill to running to the neighbours because his other brain was doing the thinking…these are just a couple things that had me second guess ol’ sparky.
He spent sometime at my parents & sisters this winter and during his time there my dad would put him to work. I will never forget the day when my dad called me and said ” Jess, Sparky can PULL!…I have him pulling everything!” So when he arrived home his training continued. This winter has been long and cold but on the warm days I have sparky helping me out every second. He gets pretty excited when I walk out the door with his harness in my had and either a bag of garbage or Taya beside me. He knows he has a mission to complete and a reward in the end.
Thanks to the Westlock Vet Clinic and their amazing work they took care of neutering Sparky and since then our pup has changed a lot! HE HAS A BRAIN! He will be 2 this summer and I feel like we have learnt a lot from one another. I can not wait to see what our future holds with this boy!
From time to time I like to go down memory lane and revisit some old work. Today brought me to our trip to Texas back in 2017…We would love to go back one day soon! Until then I will continue wearing my shorts and sandals indoors during our winter months.
